 Gerri Walker

Gerri Walker

Dr. Gerri Walker is the parent of a young adult with special needs. She is a psychologist with a specialization in learning disabilities, Autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges and parent-child interactions. She has over 15 years of extensive career experience in the fields of Psychology, Education, and Family Intervention. Her emphasis is on empowering parents, children and adolescents to identify and understand behavioral challenges, provide effective and best practices to change behaviors and improve their quality of life.

 Walter Coleman

Walter Coleman

Walt was born and raised in Chicago. He started singing at the age of 13. He was a member of several groups that recorded locally in the Chicago area. In 1966 he wrote and recorded a record that made No. 12 nationwide and from that point he became bandleader with the famous jazz singer and actor Oscar Brown Jr. He performed on the Smothers' Brothers TV show in January 1968.  His group has performed with Sly and the Family Stone, The Whispers, Glenn Campbell and many others. He left the road and started recording in his home studio in 1977 and to spend time in his religious beliefs. In 1991 he wrote and recorded a country pop song that made No. 4 on the European charts. He is currently working on a children's album that is slated to be complete at the end of 2012. He is very happy to be a part of the CAA family and he feels good about the accomplishments and focus of this wonderful organization. As one of the musical directors, he is very proud of the various projects CAA has completed thus far. He is looking forward to many more achievements working with the great people in the CAA family.

Nicole Kim 

Nicole Kim

Nicole is a mother of an adult son with Down syndome who is a student at CAA. She lends her organizational experience and strategic planning expertise to lead the College of Adaptive Arts board. She has a knack for linking strategic vision to the tactical steps necessary to achieve the organizations goals. She has over 15 years of experience as a project manager in Silicon Valley and is currently a program manager at PayPal. Nicole is an advanced Toastmasters member and teaches the popular "Speaking with Confidence" class. She received her B.A. from San Jose State University and her M.B.A. in Global Business from the University of Phoenix. She lives in San Jose with her husband and four children.

 Janet Heathcote

Janet Heathcote

Janet began dancing at the age of three. She studied ballet, jazz, flamenco, international folk dancing, and tap . Her great passion was choreography for ballet and flamenco productions. She taught elite ballet, dance elements and lyrical. She worked in the construction and building materials industries as a Sales VP and  head of Human Resources.  She and her husband have five wonderful children. Two of them are students at CAA. These days she is a stay at home mom, homeschooler, Girl Scout Leader and Abuela. 

 Bob Heathcote

Bob Heathcote

Bob's music career started as a teenager growing up and working as an electric bass player and sound engineer in Los Angeles.  He eventually recorded an album in 1988 with a band which had limited fame on MTV and in the heavy metal world. After US and European tours were completed he left the entertainment industry to raise a family. He worked in construction and then manufacturing firms with a focus on computer and network management and support. During this time he began working in digital imaging as a hobby. He currently runs a business as an action sports and event photographer. He and his wife  have five wonderful children. Two of them are students at CAA.

 Timothy Guess

Timothy Guess

Timothy Guess is founder and Managing Director of Silicon Valley and Bay Area-based home care agency and respite care provider, Golden Valley Home Care.  He is certified by the Residential-Elderly Administrator Certification Program & State of California Department of Social Services as a Certified Administrator. He also obtained a Nursing Assistant Certification while caring for his late grandfather. Tim has dedicated himself to informing people on issues surrounding seniors, elders & those with differing abilities.

Tim graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia with a degree in Finance. He started his career on Wall Street as a Financial and Operational Regulator for such firms as the New York Stock Exchange and Bank of America, covering issues from insider trading to market manipulation. Tim left the Big Apple when he experienced difficulty caring for his parents and grandparents in the Bay Area. He found himself repeatedly traveling to the West Coast to assist them.

Tim is a fitness buff and enjoys working out in the gym. Most recently, Guess was featured as a soldier/athlete in the San Francisco Opera’s World Premier of “Heart of A Soldier”.  Tim is a newly elected member of the College of Adaptive Arts Board. Tim is honored to be  on the CAA Board and looks forward to bringing the organization to new heights.
