At CAA, learning happens in the classroom—but friendship, connection, and belonging happen everywhere.
Our Social Recreation program gives CAA students opportunities to connect with friends, explore shared interests, try new activities, and participate in their community outside of regular classes.
Whether students are bowling, gardening, playing games, performing, golfing, or simply hanging out together, Social Recreation creates more opportunities to build relationships and experience the social side of college life.
Come for the activity. Stay for the community.
Regional Center Funding Available
CAA Social Recreation activities are vendorized under Regional Center Service Code 063 and may be funded through a student’s Individual Program Plan (IPP).
Eligible Social Recreation activities can be authorized by the Regional Center, allowing students to participate in clubs, teams, and social events as part of their approved services.
CAA’s current reimbursement rate is $35 per participant hour.
Families interested in using Regional Center funding should contact their Service Coordinator to discuss adding Social Recreation services to their IPP.

Your CAA experience doesn’t have to end when class does.
Explore a club, attend an event, try something new, or come hang out with friends. Social Recreation opportunities are available throughout the year for registered CAA students.
Social Recreation activities require separate registration from CAA classes. Regional Center funding is available for eligible students through Service Code 063. Private-pay options are also available.

There’s something for everyone.
CAA clubs bring students together around shared interests and experiences. Clubs meet outside of regular class time and give students another way to develop friendships, practice independence, and simply have fun together.
Community Cardinals Club
Take CAA into the community.
Community Cardinals represent CAA at performances, speaking engagements, celebrations, and community events. Students have opportunities to share their talents, build confidence, and help others learn more about CAA.
This is also a natural home for students involved in performance groups who want to participate in CAA appearances throughout the community.
Best for: Students who enjoy performing, representing CAA, meeting new people, and being part of community events.
CAA Golf Team
Hit the course with CAA.
The CAA Golf Team brings students together to learn, practice, and enjoy the game of golf. Students spend time on the driving range and course while developing skills, sportsmanship, confidence, and friendships.
Golf experience isn’t the most important thing—being ready to participate and have fun is.
Best for:Students who enjoy being outdoors, sports, learning new skills, and spending time with friends.
CAA Bowling Team
Strikes, spares, and plenty of fun.
Bowling is an easygoing way to get active and spend time with friends. CAA students bowl together in a supportive environment where everyone can participate at their own level.
Students can work on their game, cheer each other on, and enjoy being part of a team.
Best for: Students who enjoy friendly competition, movement, teamwork, and socializing.
Gaming Club
Play. Connect. Have fun.
Gaming Club brings students together for board games, card games, video games, strategy games, and plenty of friendly competition.
Students can introduce friends to a favorite game, discover something new, or just enjoy an afternoon hanging out with other CAA students.
Best for: Gamers, strategists, competitors, and anyone looking for a relaxed way to meet people.
Garden Club
Grow something together.
Garden Club gives students the chance to get their hands dirty while learning about plants, gardening, pollinators, and caring for the natural world.
Students work together in CAA’s garden, share ideas, learn practical gardening skills, and enjoy time outdoors with friends.
No green thumb required.
Best for: Students who enjoy nature, hands-on activities, being outdoors, and working together.
From the Heart Theater Club
Create, imagine, and perform together
From the Heart Theater Club gives students another place to explore acting, movement, storytelling, and creative expression outside of regular theater classes.
Through collaborative theater experiences, students can experiment with characters, build confidence, express themselves, and create alongside fellow performers.
Participation can happen at each student’s own comfort level—there is a place for everyone in the story.
Best for: Actors, storytellers, performers, and students who love imagination and creative expression.
