Volunteers are an important part of the College of Adaptive Arts community. Whether you’re supporting students in the classroom, helping behind the scenes, participating in clubs, or lending a hand at a special event, your time and talents help create a vibrant and inclusive college experience for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

And volunteering at CAA is about more than helping out. It’s an opportunity to build relationships, discover new perspectives, share what you know, and become part of a community where everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Be part of the learning experience by supporting professors and students in CAA classes and activities.

No previous experience with CAA or adults with disabilities is required.

We provide orientation, training, and guidance so you’ll feel prepared and supported in your volunteer role.

Becoming a CAA volunteer is a simple process designed to help you get to know our community—and help us get to know you.

1. Tell Us About Yourself​

Complete our Volunteer Interest Form and tell us a little about your interests, skills, and availability.​

2. Experience CAA

Take a student-led tour and see CAA in action. You’ll learn about our programs, meet members of our community, and get a feel for what makes CAA unique.

3. Attend Volunteer Orientation

After your tour, we’ll invite you to a 45-minute Volunteer Orientation where you’ll learn more about CAA, our students, volunteer expectations, and how we work together.

4. Complete Your Volunteer Requirements

Depending on your volunteer role, you’ll complete the required onboarding documents and clearances, which may include:

  • Volunteer Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement
  • Live Scan background check
  • TB clearance
  • Other required documentation

We’ll provide instructions and guide you through the process.

5. Find Your Volunteer Opportunity

Once onboarding is complete, you’ll meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to talk about your interests, availability, and current opportunities. Together, we’ll find a role where you can make a meaningful contribution to the CAA community.
