Retired Educator; Former Head of School, Notre Dame High School, San Jose.

Mary Beth Riley served as the principal/ head of school of Notre Dame High School in San Jose from 2006 to 2023 when she retired. Notre Dame is the oldest private high school for women in the state of California dating back to 1851. In her 38-year tenure at Notre Dame, Mary Beth served as a faculty member, teaching French, and as an administrator.  She built relevant, mission aligned program, a strong enrollment base that assured financial stability, strengthened school leadership, developed the board of directors, adopted a campus master plan, and developed strategic vision and capital funds for long term sustainability.   In 2020, she completed and $20 million-dollar campaign to build the Center for Women’s Leadership.


She has a B.A. in French from Regis University and a Masters in Teaching from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.  In 2013 she was recognized as a Women of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and in 2014, she was recognized by the National Catholic Education Association with the Secondary Schools Department Educational Excellence Award. 


She has four adult children and three grand-children.
